Amber's Testimony

Today's #TestimonialTuesday is on Amber, our Case Manager at our Journey to Recovery program.
Amber guides Journey to Recovery's Adult Drug Court participants and helps their transition back into society by assisting with getting their ID's, finding employment, transportation, and whatever else the individuals may need to become successful in their recovery.
Before joining our team, Amber went through the Journey to Recovery program herself. After growing up watching various family members use substances, Amber began using substances herself when she was in high school. By the time she was 19, her substance use became less casual and more of an addictive disease, leading to years in and out of incarceration and probation.
After being arrested once, Amber was sent to Journey to Recovery. It was not an easy transition for her, in fact she was kicked out of the program and sent back to jail for 30 days. After she was released, she came back to the program with a new perspective and motivation to change.
"When I came back I realized that if I did not get sober, there was no telling what could happen to me next," Amber says.
After successfully completing the program and trying out a few different jobs, Amber finally found her calling working at Journey to Recovery - the very same program she went through.
"The best part of my job is I get to give back," Amber says. "The people I help are all just good people with bad habits."
Today, Amber has been living in recovery for over 4 years. She leans on her faith, loves her family, and enjoys resting when she can. We are so proud of her personal growth and all the amazing work she does for others at Journey to Recovery.
