Hannah's Testimony

Hannah joined our team last month when she accepted an open position in our Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program - which helps individuals with opioid use disorders find recovery through medication and counseling. Having gone through the program herself, we couldn't ask for a better fit for this position than Hannah.

A few years back, Hannah experienced life challenges such as divorce, unemployment, and the deaths of loved ones. Feeling hopeless and experiencing mental health concerns, she turned to substance use which led to almost two years of active addiction.

Hannah was arrested and sent to Adult Drug Court which referred her to Journey to Recovery - our residential recovery program. She was kicked out of the program but soon came back determined to succeed and make a change. She graduated from Drug Court and was encouraged by the staff who helped her to become a Certified Peer Specialist so she could begin a career of helping others.

"I was facilitating groups while I was still in treatment myself," Hannah says. "So, the staff told me I should be a counselor. They saw a light in me I did not see and gave me a sense of purpose to move forward."

Today, Hannah has been in recovery for almost three years. In her new job, she is able to help others get through the same things she did years back. Recovery has also helped her regain relationships with some loved ones and set healthy boundaries with others.

"There is life after opioid addiction," Hannah says.

We are so proud of Hannah and thrilled to now have her as a part of our team. We can't wait to see how she uses her lived experiences to help others.
