Judge Marc D’Antonio of the Muscogee County Probate Court received a prestigious award from the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. The Flame of Hope Award recognizes individuals working in the behavioral health field across the state of Georgia. Judge D’Antonio and six other recipients were chosen out of 160 statewide nominations.
Judge D’Antonio was nominated for this award by Dr. Cynthia Pattillo, Psychologist at New Horizons Behavioral Health. Judge D’Antonio works closely with Dr. Pattillo and New Horizons along with other providers to find solutions to gaps in behavioral health services in the community. He has specifically worked closely on mental health reform efforts including Assisted Outpatient Treatment and Orders to Apprehend to support individuals in crisis.
“He is knowledgeable about many of the issues individuals face like housing, eviction, and Social Security, just to name a few.” Dr. Pattillo says, “’Judge D’ goes above and beyond the minimum requirements of conducting hearings and signing orders.”
All the of the Flame of Hope awardees attended a ceremony at the Georgia State Capitol on Wednesday, December 6th where Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Kevin Tanner presented their awards.
“It’s really having an impact,” Commissioner Tanner says about the various statewide behavioral health programs, “we need to continue to invest in our statewide crisis network.”
