Leslie's Testimony

Posted on May 29, 2024 at 16:54 PM

Leslie's journey with New Horizons started in 2017 when she had her first intake appointment. She always knew her mind worked a little differently than others, but she finally found the clarity she was searching for when she received the correct diagnoses that allowed her to make changes in her life for the better.

Coming to our R.E.A.C.H Center on weekdays gives Leslie purpose, routine, and motivation. Beyond that, it has helped her learn vital life skills - like how to advocate for herself and how to identify and verbalize her feelings.

"Coming here helps me get up in the morning," Leslie says about R.E.A.C.H. "It gives me a reason to take care of myself."

Describing herself a "people-person," Leslie also enjoys the aspect of socializing with the staff and other individuals at R.E.A.C.H. She credits the center with allowing her to learn more about the importance of mental health and acceptance of others.

"The best words to describe me are grateful and blessed," Leslie says. "I am thankful for the friends, family and support system I have in my life."

We are thankful to know Leslie and so proud of the personal progress she has made in these past few years! R.E.A.C.H. provides Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services for adults with mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders in a way that recognizes the individuality of learning types.
