National Grief Awareness Week

Posted on Dec 06, 2024 at 14:22 PM

This week is #NationalGriefAwarenessWeek, providing a dedicated period for individuals, organizations, and communities to come together to acknowledge and address the various aspects of grief.

The holiday season in particular can make it more difficult for people to navigate their grief from losing a loved one. If you are struggling with that, here are some things you can try:

* Start a journal that allows you to privately express you feelings from grief

* Write a letter to the person you lost, helping you honor them and put into words any of the things you wish you were able to say before they passed

* Reconnect with an experience or place or focus on a memory that reminds you of this person or thing, as a way to recognize and process the loss

* Ask for help. Grief is a universal, human experience that no one should ever have to go through alone
