Rachel's Testimony

Today's #TestimonialTuesday is on Rachel, the new Team Lead for our Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program! ✨
Rachel has been a part of the New Horizons team since 2020, with the exception of taking some time off to finish school. In these past four years Rachel has worked in our REACH and APEX programs, serving adults' and children's mental health concerns. We are now so excited for her to lead our MAT program, helping individuals with opioid use disorders find recovery through medication and counseling.
Rachel has been in recovery for 11 years now. During her period of suffering with an addictive disease, Rachel experienced extreme lows such as homelessness, incarceration, and domestic violence. Some of these challenges affected her mental health and caused her to self-medicate with substances.
After being released from incarceration, Rachel enrolled in our past housing assistance program. This was the first of many steps that allowed Rachel to find recovery and start a new life.
"Because of the help," Rachel says, "I was able to get my kids back home, go back to work, have a nice home, get ahead in life and go back to school to have a better life and future."
Today, Rachel is a college graduate, supervisor at New Horizons, and proud mother and soon-to-be grandmother. We are so proud of the tremendous progress she has made throughout the past decade and can't wait to see the growth she will bring to our MAT program!
