Team Member/Program Spotlight

Today is National HIV Testing Day, the perfect opportunity for our Team Member/Program Spotlight to be on Gigi Robinson and our Early Intervention Services!

Gigi has been our Early Interventions Counselor since 2010. She leads our free, rapid, and confidential HIV and HEP C testing services offered at various New Horizons locations, community events, and other partner organizations. When an individual tests positive for either, Gigi coordinates with the Georgia Department of Public Health and Tree of Life Healthcare to get the individual the care they need ASAP.

"Everyone needs to know what their HIV status is," Gigi says. "If you do test positive, it's so important to get taken care of. HIV is not a death sentence - you can live a normal, healthy life with the right care and medications."

Gigi's favorite part of her job is seeing the success stories of individuals gaining their health and life back after getting the treatment they need. When she's not at work, Gigi enjoys shopping and spending time with her family - especially her grandchildren.

Today is the perfect time for Gigi to remind us all the importance of everyone know their HIV status - regardless of gender or sexuality. 1 in 5 people with HIV are unaware of their status.

Gigi takes walk-in testing appointments on weekdays from 8am - 4pm at 2100 Comer Ave in Columbus. If you would like her to do testing at your next event, you can email her grobinson@nhbh.org.
